1. Glass Beach
Fort Bragg (hah!), California

Every action has a reaction, in this case it was a beach of glass. Earlier a local dumping ground for degraded glass, this beach is a colorful attraction and reminder of the blunders of mankind. With the passage of time waves have washed away or smoothened the once edgy glass and turned into a colorful paradise with your very own trinkets and souvenirs!

2. Hidden Beach
Playa de Amor, Marieta Islands, Mexico

Every couples dream come true, this beach with an unusual landscape was formed by a blasting the canopy huge cavern by the Mexican Government in 1990.

3. Schoolhouse Beach
Washington Island, Wisconsin, USA

Remember our school’s playpens? Yup the ones with sand where we all have fought our imaginary battles and won em’ all and after that cleaning up was no mess, just dust and done, this beach is exactly the same where the sand doesn’t stick! Here the beach is made of smooth, glacier-polished sedimentary limestone that is absolutely non-gluey.

4. Green Sand Beach
Papakolea Beach, Hawaii

Yes, I wasn’t joking when I talked of green sand in the starters, here the unique green color is due to the presence of mineral olivine as the chemical constituent of the sand. Just a good to know fact – Olivine, a kind of magnesium mineral, originates after lava is cooled in sea water.

5. Jokulsarlon Beach
Iceland

Diamonds on the beach, as mesmerizing that fact would have been its not one! Instead this beach has huge ice chunks lying on the ground! One to be photographed for sure.

6. Giant’s Causeway Beach
Ireland

Remember Dragonstone? (Any GOT fans?), yes this one looks exactly like the mythical and mysterious castle of Dragonstone and its origin tale dates back just as old too. Once upon a time, 50-60 million years ago, volcanic eruption led to gushing out lava onto the sea. On cooling, this basaltic lava led to hexagonal rock formation comprising of weird cracks.

7. Vanishing Beach
Chandipur, Orissa, India

How many of us have dreamt to walk on that mysterious sea bed, now it’s possible! Throughout the year, twice a day, the Chandipur Beach of Orissa in Eastern India unbelievably vanishes. The sea recedes up to 5 km providing the scope to walk on the sea bed and collect sea shells, red crabs and other underwater marine particles. Just a piece of advice – return well in advance before the next high tide as the sea rushes back to its place.

8. Pink Beach
Harbour Island, Bahamas

Squeals from all the pink lovers! Pretty is the word for this beach where the idyllic pink sand of the Bahamas is pigmented by washed-up coral remnants, which are dashed and ground to tiny pieces by the surf.

9.  Shell Beach
Shark Bay, Australia

Well, this one sure does live! As weird is the name, as is its origin too. This beach has water so saline that the cockle clam has been able to proliferate unchecked by its natural predators. It is this abundance of molluscs that floods the beaches with their shells.

10. Pfeiffer Purple Sand Beach
California

With a name no short of a tongue twister, this is one enchanting beach for sure! The purple sand at this beach (which is only found in patches) is formed when manganese garnet deposits in the surrounding hills erode into the sea.

Out of the box is just another thing here! It’s time to Break the flatness of a stereotype beach holiday and fly high! Boost and gear up your traveler’s cravings and experience awesome but unusual and unique beaches of the world.
